What makes it fun

A stroll along the Friends Trail Loop Trailhead is where romance really finds its footing. This scenic 1.5-mile loop winds through Beavers Bend State Park, offering forest views, river access, and even little waterfall moments that make you want to pause and maybe event share a kiss or two. One minute you’re climbing a hill together, the next you’re strolling alongside the rushing Mountain Fork River, where the sound of the water basically sets the mood.

There is no signal and Oklahoma State Parks will tow you if you don’t buy a pass. We drove until we found signal to fill out the form… it’s the most extensive freaking form! We just wanted to go for a hike! It’s like they don’t want people to use their parks.

Late post from February 2026: This was my first time hiking, it was a great trail, scenery is beautiful. Be prepared for large rocks and slopes. Wear tennis shoes.

Do not listen to all the negative reviews painting this hike as some near death experience! We are novice hikers who enjoy nature (i wore sneakers) with our dog and had a wonderful time. The first half hour is strenuous (its a steep kike up) and yes, its a trail with some loose stones and roots, so not suitable for the very young or old but we did fine. Once you get to the ridge, its only another few minutes to the river and those views are stunning. Even as dry as it is the river was roaring with rapids and little falls and there are lots of places to get to the water are you go (clearly caution is needed on these cliffs). The trail is pretty well marked and there are little arrows every so often. After 15 or so mins along the river your turn back up and into the woods (not as steep of an incline this time) and hook up with the beginning of the trail back to the lot. Took us about an hour - we didnt rush but didnt stop for long either. Highly reccomend!

Great hiking trails. It is easy to moderate trails that lead to beaver creek. It is a perfect getaway. It does have some steep inclines so be ready for parts of the trails to be a little intense.

Great trail! The water was amazing! The trail is moderate I’d say. I hike weekly, and it only got a lil bit challenging depending on into the hike when we started to elevate. Chilling but the water is a great way to relax after the hike. People were even in the water, although I wouldn’t recommend that unless you’re an avid swimmer.

I loved this hike. I mean I definitely felt close to deaths door on one of the steep inclines but after a few short breaks I was good. I wouldn’t say it’s a hard hike I’m just bad at hiking in general. The water is beautiful and clear, and the views were worth the sweat. We definitely didn’t exactly follow the arrows most of the time but somehow we made it back. Parking was very accessible
